History of Mesquite Works STEAM Center

Born of rejection and built on resilience,

the Mesquite Works STEAM Center right here in the heart of Mesquite, Nevada is a testament to what a determined community can achieve when it chooses possibility over limitation. Founded in 2015 to address lost business opportunities and the absence of local workforce training, Mesquite Works set out to prepare residents—especially youth—for meaningful futures through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Agriculture, and Math. Early challenges only strengthened its mission, and during the uncertainty of COVID, a transformative partnership with the Charles and Phyllis M. Frias Charitable Trust led to the donation of the Mesquite Plaza Shopping Center and the creation of a dedicated STEAM Center. Powered by grassroots fundraising, volunteers, and visionary leadership, the Center now serves as a vibrant hub of innovation, education, and opportunity—proving that when a community invests in its people, it builds a future worth believing in and supporting.
